Two weeks ago, I decided to invest in my skin care routine. For the past couple of year's I have been a strong believer that great skin care is the basis of flawless make up and before I knew it I found myself at the Kiehl's store in Covent Garden.
My skin has transformed to look the healthiest it has in a long time. I still have some way to go but the red markings from old blemishes, texture of my skin and oil balance have really improved. I have put this mainly down to the fact I'm primarily using Kiehl's for my skin care routine.

As I've had no personal experience of the brand before, I had a chat with the Kiehl's store consultant about my skin and he was the most helpful skin care consultant I've ever spoken too.

After talking him through my problems, breakouts and combination skin, I was quickly recommended the Skin Rescuer. It's a moisturiser which can be used both day and night that is suitable for combination skin. It's aimed at those suffer from 'stressed skin'. By stressed skin it refers to dehydration, redness and fatigue but it is also beneficial for those prone to breakouts. I have been using this both day and night and have noticed a visible difference in my redness and generally lackluster skin. The consistency isn't totally lightweight but it's light enough to use under make up and creates a nice hydrated canvas.

Although cleansers don't sit long on the skin, I wanted one that would give my skin some benefits. As I wear a full face of makeup everyday, I always double cleanse so I was looking for a product for the second step in my cleansing routine.

I was recommended the Centella Skin-Calming Facial Cleanser. Targeted at those with sensitive skin and suitable for my unhappy breakouts, this cleanser it is hydrating and calming. I've been using the cleanser both day and night. It's so gentle on the skin and doesn't feel like it's stripping away the natural oils. I use one pump in the morning and two pumps in the evening after removing the bulk of my makeup with a micellar water.

The final product I was looking for was something to treat my skin. As I've mentioned 100 times, I have blemish prone skin with red markings all over my cheeks from old blemishes which are my main areas of concern.

The Midnight Recovery Concentrate is designed to recover skin by the morning. It contains Evening Primrose, Lavender Essential Oil and Squalane which are ingredients targeted at repairing the skin barrier, soothing irritated or inflamed skin and hydration.

I use 3-4 drops of this onto freshly cleansed skin once I've used my serum (I'm currently using a Kiehl's sample). Once I've patted and pressed it into my skin, I apply one small pump of the Skin Rescuer for hydration and further treatment.

This oil is the best skincare product I have ever used. Yep, it's made it to my holy grail list in two weeks. I've never noticed one product appear to transform my skin so quickly. In the morning my skin appears soft and smooth, my red marks are noticeably fading and it seems to be balancing the natural oils in my skin.

My skin feels the best it has in a long time. Although I'm still prone to hormonal breakouts, this routine seems to have really lifted my confidence in my skin and I'm very impressed with the results in such a short period of time.

So maybe the secret to the perfect skin care routine is using one brand? After all their products and ingredients are designed to work together to give you optimum results. Let me know your thoughts and what your Kiehl's favourites are... I'm looking at completely my collection after payday!
