This week I was lucky enough to attend the Harvey Nichols launch of the MAC x Alessandra collaboration. I've been an avid follower of Alex's work for a few years now, so when the opportunity to attend the event came about, I jumped!

There was no question about buying Alessandra's lipstick, no matter what the shade was. However I was initially a little apprehensive about it being a pink shade - these are a little out of my comfort zone as I tend to opt for more beige nudes.

The shade is described as a 'neutral pink' to suit all skin tones with a lustre finish, keeping lips looking plumped and hydrated as opposed to any matte formulas. As a part of her launch, she has also put together a full look complete with bronze cheeks and smokey eyes - the signature Alessandra look.

As you can see the pink has perfect undertones to work for all skin tones, including blue and mauve. At the launch it was demonstrated on various women ranging from very fair to deep skin tones and I have to admit it worked for all. It can be paired with various lipliners to create a different look making it appear brighter or deeper.

For medium skin tones like mine the MAC artist paired it with the classic 'Spice' liner to warm it up a little (the combination I am wearing in the picture with Alex below).

Alex spent the evening answer questions and talking about her passion for creating a lipstick that was truly universal and made women feel beautiful. Of course, there were the obligatory skin care questions thrown in too. She then took the time to speak with everyone individually - you could tell how truly appreciative she was for people to turn up at the event and to have such positive feedback.

You can see below how the shade works on our skin tones. I have to say, I think the pink tone really brightens up all faces and maybe I should try wearing it more often. (Please excuse my shiny forehead, the lights were extreme).
